The Plainville Board of Education is currently seeking nominations for the Memorial Wall of Honor, a permanent tribute to honor individuals who have contributed significant volunteer service to the educational community. The deadline for submission of applications is October 31, 2018.

The Plainville Board of Education and Plainville Community Schools will host a banner unveiling ceremony honoring the Ted Christopher Wall of Wrestling Champions at Plainville High School. The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 6:00PM at the Athletic Memorial Wall of Honor located in the Kegel Gymnasium at Plainville High School, 47 Robert Holcomb Way. A reception will follow in the Plainville High School cafeteria.

Superintendent Brummett appointed to advisory commission

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett has been appointed a member of the Connecticut Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations. Brummett joins legislators, mayors, lobbyists, Board of Education members, and the state’s Office of Policy and Management on the committee.

Plainville VFW post 574 raffle proceeds support district athletic program & food pantry

The Plainville VFW Post 574 sponsored a raffle over the summer to benefit the school district’s athletic program as well as the Plainville Community Food Pantry, according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett.

Schweitzer wins Thomas DiCorleto Memorial Award

School Psychologist Suzanne Schweitzer has been named recipient of the Thomas DiCorleto Memorial Outstanding Service Award, from the Farmington Valley Special Education Directors Association. Middle School of Plainville School Psychologist, Justine Misseri, nominated Schweitzer for the prestigious award which was developed to honor the Farmington Valley Directors’ beloved colleague, Tom DiCorleto, and his lifelong commitment to the service of students with special needs. The award is presented annually to a person who embodies the passion and commitment to children that Mr. DiCorleto demonstrated throughout his lifetime.

PHS Seniors Moving to Collegiate Athletics

Plainville High School hosted an “Athletic Celebration” on June 19th for six seniors who will be going on to play collegiate athletics. The event was organized by Plainville Community Schools’ Athletic Director Chris Farrell.

Nine Plainville Community Schools' retirees were recognized at the June 11th Plainville Board of Education meeting for their many years of service. They include: Pamela Gervasio - Spanish Teacher, Plainville High School, Gary Feltt, Science Teacher, Middle School of Plainville, Barbara Fawcett - Special Education Teacher, Middle School of Plainville, Carol Von Achen, Special Education Teacher, Middle School of Plainville, Bernadette Knowles, Special Education Teacher, Linden Street School, Sophie Morse, Tutor, Middle School of Plainville, Denise Ciano, Custodian, Linden Street School, Debra Gurski, Office Professional, Plainville High School, and Laura Boland, Paraprofessional, Louis Toffolon Elementary School.

PHS Dattco Internship

Dattco representatives visited Plainville High School to speak with students about their internship and apprenticeship programs this year. Currently, three Plainville High School graduates are participating in the apprenticeship program and two graduating seniors will participate in the internship program. In addition, a group of Plainville High School students recently participated in a field trip to Dattco to explore the field of diesel mechanics.

District Hosts Annual Volunteer Recognition Program

Plainville Community Schools’ annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner and Awards Program was held on May 10th, at Plainville High School. This year's theme was “Country Hoedown.” More than 100 school volunteers, Board of Education members, administrators and staff were present to enjoy an evening of food, friends, and recognition.
