Plainville Community Schools has named Plainville Community Schools Library Information Teacher Cindi Giantonio as the 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year. Giantonio was nominated by district colleagues Erica Kriscenski and Alexandra Hurlock.

At their June 14th meeting, the Plainville Board of Education recognized the individuals who will retire this year for their many years of service to Plainville Community Schools.

Plainville High School students Katherine Gibson and Kyle Voisine have been named recipients of the second semester “Student Rocks Award” recognizing their outstanding contributions to Plainville High School.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of a group of Middle School of Plainville students and Technology Education faculty member Camille Westfall, the district’s Go Kid Go program once again served as the backdrop for meeting the needs of Plainville students through hands-on learning and giving back!

Thanks to the generosity of the Carrier Group Inc., a division of By Carrier, Inc., together with support from several other local businesses, Louis Toffolon Elementary School will now have a new permanent outdoor learning space.

Alicia Atterrato, currently Elementary Math and Science Instructional Leader for Plainville Community Schools, has been named the next Principal of Louis Toffolon Elementary School, and Middle School of Plainville Assistant Principal, Aimee Roberts, has been named the next Principal of the Middle School of Plainville, according to Superintendent of Schools, Steven LePage.

During the last several meetings of the Middle School of Plainville’s Kids in the Middle (KIM) program, students created magazine roll-up art to donate to a local nursing home

Middle School of Plainville, English Language Arts Instructional Leader, Erin Georgini recently arranged a virtual author visit for a group of eighth graders.

The Plainville Community Schools Preschool Program is excited to offer a pilot school year (2021-2022) of preschool programming for children who will be four (4) years of age by 12/31/21 AT NO COST TO FAMILIES as a result of COVID-19 grant relief funding for school districts. We will begin accepting registrations on Monday, March 15, 2021 through our Central Registration Office. This NAEYC accredited preschool program is designed to prepare students for the transition to kindergarten at age five (5).

Plainville Community Schools celebrated Read Across America Day on March 2 with various activities planned throughout the day.

The Plainville High School Theater Unlimited Club voted to refurbish the high school’s Choral Room (Room 403) into a black box theater. Under the guidance of faculty members TJ Riccardo, Todd Helming, Dave Gaignard and Facilities Director Steve Busel, the students are painting the presentation space, building a light and sound booth, adding projection, digital sound and digital lighting.

The Plainville High School Science National Honor Society, lead by faculty member and group advisor John Girard, collected $370 and donated food items, Gnazzo Food Center gift cards, and funds to the Plainville Community Food Pantry before the school's winter break, to support local residents in need over the winter months.

Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School Library Information Teacher Cynthia Giantonio recently led a lesson on equity and gender stereotypes with all Wheeler School fifth grade students. As part of the lesson, students discussed how stereotypes impact their daily lives and online experiences.

The Plainville Community Schools Food Services Department continues to expand meal offerings to students and families, according to Food Services Director, Ashley Onion.

Middle School of Plainville Technology Education teacher Camille Westfall, is the recipient of this year's Technology Student Association (TSA) Chapter Advisor of the Year award. This award is presented to (TSA) chapter advisors who have provided exemplary service and support to the Technology Student Association.

Several elementary school faculty members and their classes in Plainville have recently participated in virtual read-aloud sessions and activities lead by Department of Education Open Choice Program Liaison Dina Lamenzo.

The Plainville Fire Department, in conjunction with generous donations from PetSmart and their customers, picked up and delivered brand new stuffed animals to the Plainville Family Resource Network (PFRN) based at Linden Street School.

Middle School of Plainville students are back in art class this year expressing their creativity!

Students at Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School, under the direction of Art Teacher Laura Reed, created a “Stronger Together” mural comprised of the students’ mini self portraits created as their first art lesson this year!

Plainville Community Fund and the Petit Family Foundation donates to the Plainville High School Math Department to purchase two iPad and Apple Pencil sets

Linden Street School has a new Cultural Ambassador Program introduced to the school community by Principal Jeff Wallowitz.

All Plainville Community Schools students will now receive breakfast and lunch at no cost each school day through the end of December, according to district Food Services Director, Ashley Onion.

The Southington Home Depot recently donated 66 plastic buckets to the Middle School of Plainville Music Program. The buckets will be used for safe and socially distant drumming practice this year.

Trumpf Inc. recently donated face masks to Plainville Community Schools for the start of the 2020-21 school year!

Jeff Wallowitz, formerly an elementary school principal in the West Hartford, Connecticut school system, has been named principal of Linden Street School, according to Superintendent of Schools, Steven LePage.
